PRS Wins Appeal in Black Box Royalties Case

PRS has emerged victorious in the Court of Appeal against a class action lawsuit concerning black box royalties, initiated by Blur drummer Dave Rowntree. This ruling overturns the previous decision by the Competition Tribunal, which had declined to certify the class action.

Although PRS has successfully defended against the lawsuit brought by Rowntree and his funders, the legal process has resulted in a financial cost of £1.8 million for the collecting society. Originally reported by Complete Music Update.
