Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Pandora, and Google have submitted their proposed royalty rates for songwriters for the period of 2028 to 2032 to the Phonorecords V proceeding. The US Copyright Royalty Board will determine the rates for the American market.
While most services aim to maintain the current rate and publishers seek an increase, Amazon has proposed a rate cut, drawing criticism from the NMPA, which labeled them "the worst offender." Originally reported by Music Business Worldwide and Complete Music Update.
